Shemina Jiwani is the Chief Operating Officer of AscendantFX, a Toronto-based international payments FinTech. She has 20 years of experience in the finance industry balancing her role with being a mom of two wonderful (and crazy) children ages 5 and 2.
Shemina started in the industry as a Corporate Dealer at Thomas Cook Global Financial Services. She eventually moved on to Custom House Global Foreign Exchange, where she held the title of Director of Business Development. In this role, she led global marketing and business development initiatives for Custom House (acquired by Western Union), including the onboarding of strategic global customers and evaluating and implementing partner and acquisition opportunities.
In addition to her executive position at Ascendant, Shemina was appointed to the Payments Canada Advisory Committee in 2020. She also acts as a mentor to other young finance professionals as part of Money 2020’s Rise Up program, and contributes thought-leadership pieces (both in editorials and speaking engagements) tackling the topics of diversity and inclusion, focusing particularly on women in the finance industry.
Nicole Baxby is the Director of Customer Success at Featurespace. She works with large financial institutions to help them leverage Featurespace’s machine learning and AI solutions to fight fraud.
Nicole has worked in the financial technology industry for the last 14 years, spending 9 years consulting for European banking in the UK for TSYS International.
Nicole was recently included in Money 20/20's Rise Up leadership program, which identifies the next generation of female leaders in financial technology and help them achieve their goals through training and mentorship. Nicole also serves as a mentor to other women in her industry and also actively participates in Wnet (Women's Network in Electronic Transactions), Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).
Nicole was a featured speaker at the 2019 FinTech South at the Mercedez Benz stadium discussing the topic of unconscious bias in the FinTech industry. In 2019, she has also been a speaker for Women Driving Innovation and at Money 20/20 USA.
Nicole is an active in her community as a member of the Junior League and League of Women Voters. She was also named as one of Georgia Forward's 2019 Young Gamechangers, a leadership action group which works with a specific community in Georgia to address challenges and help make positive changes. She is also a board member for Hope Harbour, a women and children domestic violence shelter located in Columbus, Georgia. Along with her husband, Ian, they have adopted five senior rescue dogs in the last two years. They also spend their free time traveling and have visited 15 countries across South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Stephanie Foster launched a stellar career in financial technology two decades ago. Stephanie is the Head of Regional Product Management for the Americas region at Finastra. She has successfully led product commercialization internationally and within the US at Fortune 500 organizations namely Western Union and Fiserv. Stephanie holds a number of Industry accolades: Money 20/20 Rise Up Class of 2018 and Electronic Transaction Association’s (ETA) Forty Under 40 for 2019. Stephanie received Wnet’s Emerging Trendsetter award in 2019. As part of her commitment to strengthening diversity and inclusion in FinTech, Stephanie helped found Women Driving Innovation in Atlanta with the mission to connect, inspire and empower the next generation of female thought leaders in tech. She also serves as a member of the Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions’ (Wnet) Advisory Board.
Rawan is a Lead Software Engineer at ACI Worldwide, the Universal Payments company and she brings forth ten years of industry experience. When deadlines are tight, she can be found providing the needed analysis, solution design and software development to enable some of the world’s largest banks to certify and go live with ACI's market-leading UP Retail Payments solution.
In 2019, Rawan was selected to be a Power Player in Money 20/20’s Rise Up program. She was recently on the ETA Transact 40 under 40 list and she was recognized as a Rising Star by the Women in Payments Organization.
A primary focus of hers is to pay it forward. Rawan actively supports the growth of community and women globally through volunteer efforts and mentorship programs."
Velera Wilson has spent over fifteen years leading marketing strategy and driving revenue for Fortune 500 brands including Fiserv, Verifone and AT&T. Recognized as a female leader in her industry, in 2018 Velera was selected to join Money 20/20’s Rise Up global accelerator program for women and served as the program’s 2019 U.S. Ambassador. A big believer in paying it forward, she’s served as a mentor to women through the American Marketing Association, National Black MBA Association, and others across the country. She resides in Atlanta with her husband.
